Obituary

ZECHARIAH  NATHANIEL  LONG,  'JACK', of Valley Center, 84, retired Boeing Aircraft welder, business owner and entrepreneur, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. He was born in Orlando, Oklahoma, to Ray Alvin Long and Hazel Irene (Neff) Long. He was raised in Oklahoma and attended Ringwood School. He married the love of his life, Norma Louise (Simons) Long. Jack worked at Boeing Aircraft and during layoffs he would open a business. He and wife Norma in the 70's had a convenience store, 80's they had a restaurant, he had his welding business and mobile home park. He loved playing the guitar and singing, which took him to Nashville where he recorded a music video. They loved travelling together and with friends, always taking his guitar with him. Jack was an auctioneer, loved garage sales, raised greyhounds and homing pigeons. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, his daughter Sharon Nichols, granddaughter Malissa (Williams) Antonelli, grandson-in-law Nate Sailer, sisters Anita Gee and Clara Gee, brother Jim Long, and his parents. He is survived by his children Teresa Jones, Beverly (Wayne) Houston and James Long, all of Valley Center; grandchildren, Jason Williams, Justin Williams, Clayton Houston, Jennifer Sailer, Rachel (Chase) Ishman and Nick (Paige) Long; 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; brother Jerry (Carolyn) Long of Denton, Texas; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Visitation 5-7 p.m., Thursday, April 19 at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center. Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday April 20, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, Kansas.
