Obituary

Born Sunday, April 3, 1938, Wilma Jean (Blosser) May left this world on Monday, January 19, 2026, peacefully in her Valley Center home of over fifty years. She also left an enduring legacy of family, of faith, and of love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude Alvin Blosser and Minnie (Kyle) Blosser, and her four sisters, Thelma (Blosser) Davis, Geraldine (Blosser) Cypret, Vera Blosser, and Eula Mae (Blosser) Wilfong. Wilma May grew up in Beaver County, Oklahoma on a farm, with her four sisters. She graduated from Forgan High school, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, she attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University ultimately completing a two-year business course, with high marks.

She then married Ernest Roe May on December 21, 1958 and raised three children who survive—Kurt G. May of San Antonio, Becky D. May of Wichita, and Gayle L. May, of Newton. She worked for Sedgwick County and ended her 31-year work career there as the Accounts Payable Accountant. In her retirement years, she was a constant and cherished presence for her three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, finding her deepest meaning in the time she spent nurturing and supporting them. Wilma May also traveled extensively in Latin America, Europe, and Australia, and in various parts of the United States, during retirement. Her favorite trips were with her extended family. She is also survived by her three grandchildren—Crystal (Taylor) Henderson, Kelson Taylor (spouse Katelyn Shingler), and Kaitlyn (Taylor)Nemeth (Spouse Taylor Nemeth). Her six great grandchildren are Landen Taylor, Gabri Henderson, Emmett Henderson, Charlotte Henderson, Lincoln Henderson, and Karoline Taylor.

It is with amazing awe that her family remembers her kindness and unconditional love.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar Avenue in Valley Center, Kansas.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
