William Donald Perkins, 77, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Donald Guy and Betty Lou (Forbeck) Perkins. He spent his childhood in Newkirk, Oklahoma until moving to Wichita, Kansas. He married Wanda Joy Regehr on December 15, 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1961 and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. While in the Army, he received his GED and was a lineman with the 121st Signal Battalion, Company C. During his time in the Army, he spent almost 2 years in Germany. Bill and his family moved to Sedgwick in October 1973. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 268, in Sedgwick for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joy; his sisters Dirinda Gabbert of Winfield and Ginger Perkins of Wichita; his daughter Suzan (Mark) Brinklow of Mickleton , New Jersey and son David (Debbie) Perkins of Wichita; grandchildren Cassie Gonzalez of Commerce City, Colorado, Andrew Gonzalez of Lochbuie, Colorado, and Joshua Swafford of Wichita; 3 great-grandsons (Brayden, Nolan and Camden Gonzalez) and 1 great-granddaughter (Kyleigh King).
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31st at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 12010 W. 109th St. N., Bentley, Kansas.
