William Rex Berry

William Rex (Bill) Berry, II, 70, of Canon City, CO passed away October 26, 2011 at the Friendship House in Canon City. He was born on May 20, 1941 in Valley Center, KS to Rex and Mardell (Danner) Berry.
Bill graduated from Valley Center High School, attended Emporia State University where he received his undergraduate and then went on to Pittsburg State University where he earned his Masters. He was a teacher for many years and then went on to work in school administration. Bill was the director of the Manhattan Area Vocational Technical School in Manhattan from 1976 to 1996. Later when it became the Manhattan Area Technical College, which he played a key role into making a reality, he was president from 1996 until he retired in 1998.
Bill was a leader in technical education for many years, served on several statewide committees, testified many times to legislators and was on the cutting edge of technical education.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Kim Berry Hodge of Ottawa, KS. and Trisha (Jeff) Berry Robinson of Richardson, TX.; grandchildren, Paige, Jaime, Brenna, Jordanne, and Layne; brother, Tom (JoAnn) Berry of Penrose, CO. and sister, Becky (John) Summerville of Marion, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Celebration will be held November 26, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Valley Center, KS. at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fremont Regional Hospice at P.O.
