Carr, Violet May (Brown), 86, homemaker and daycare provider, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012. She was born in Stohrville Twp, Harper County, Kansas, the second of eight children to Vernon Manley Brown and Bertha Jane (Osborn) Brown. She loved music and taught herself to play the piano and guitar, joining her brother playing at dances. She also was a nurse at Anthony Hospital. She married Merl Carr and lived on a farm outside of Attica, Kansas. They moved to Valley Center in 1969. She was involved with her children in 4-H, music and many activities. She provided daycare for many children in Valley Center. Violet dedicated her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children, Catherine Baker of Valley Center, Herbert "Gene" Carr of Wichita, Dianna (Gary) Richards of Valley Center; grandchildren, Michaelyn (Sergio) Mireles, Dirk (Dyan) Rader, Allison Carr (Andy), Abby Richards, Audrey Richards, Andy Richards, Nathan Carr, Sarah (Daniel) Carr-Zomora and Kelly Kyle; great grandchildren, Olivia, Tori, Serg, Miles and Cruz; brothers, Ted Brown of Attica, Harold Brown of Wichita, Kenneth Brown of Wellington, Marland (Margaret) Brown of Southwest City, MO; sisters, Marie (Vance) Putman of CA and Della (Joe) Johnson of Noel, MO; many family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merl H. Carr; sons, Bill Carr and Johnny Carr; and brother, Alvin Brown. Visitation 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 28 at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S.
