, 102 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. She was born in rural Beaver County, Oklahoma to Clarence Elmer Cooke and Edith Pearl (Turpin) Cooke. Her dad was a railroad man so her family moved a lot. Joyce started in school at Perryton, Texas. She then went to work in Wichita at the Southwestern Grease Co. and in a nursing home as a nurses aide, then at the Union Depot until it closed. One of her last jobs was at 'Betty's Coffee Pot for 8 years. At age 62 her children encouraged her to retire, at which time she did and then moved here to assist her sister in caring for their Mother. Joyce loved writing poetry, of which some of her poems were made into songs. She also enjoyed crafts such as making wall hangings and pillow, collecting salt and pepper shakers along with a bird collection. She loved to travel with family and friends, of which going to the Casino may be part of their trips. Most of all she treasured her family and time with them.
