Obituary

Thomas W. Gleason, age 78, of Valley Center, Kansas went to his heavenly classroom on February 19, 2021.  He was born in Yell County, Arkansas on February 7, 1943 to Wesley Brown Gleason and Lucille Campbell Gleason.

He married Sharon Aday on June 22, 1968 in Dardanelle, Arkansas.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the VFW in Sedgwick, local coffee hangouts, watching his grandchildren participate in sports, and substituting in area schools. Tom Gleason, best known as "Mr. Gleason" loved coaching and teaching while getting to know 1000's of students.  He loved being a part of their daily lives and each one held a special spot in his heart.  His teaching career began in 1968 in Dover, Arkansas and span over the past 52 years.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Lucille Pennington, several aunts and uncles, mother and father in law, Delphine and Roy Aday, a sister in law, Janet Parks, and  brother in law, Gerald Aday.

Survivors include his wife Sharon, 2 sons, Darin Gleason of Shawnee, Ks and Steven and wife Joy of Cleveland, Mississippi, 4 grandchildren, Ryan and Zach Gleason of Shawnee, KS and Gavin and Avery Gleason of Oakdale, California.

Open visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 320 N. Sheridan Ave, Valley Center, KS on Tuesday February 23 from 4-7 with services on Wednesday, February 24, at 1:00 at Calvary Baptist Church, 320 N Sheridan Ave, Valley Center.  Burial will be in Dardanelle, Arkansas on a date yet to be determined.

Honorary Pallbearers: All of his students, athletes, colleagues and friends who lifted him up and inspired his life's mission and passion for teaching over the past 52 years

In honor of Tom Gleason the family has established the "Tom Gleason Memorial Scholarship" through the Valley Center Education Foundation.  Contributions may be sent to: Valley Center Education Foundation, Attention Tom Gleason, P. O. Box 218, Valley Center, KS 67147.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to  Dr. Shawna Kern, Dr. Andre Koop, Dr. Hassan Farhoud and the countless members of the medical staff at St. Frances and Center at Waterfront for the unrelentless care they provided for Tom over the past 3 ½ months.
