THELMA ' LEE' (HARL) LAIN MAYNARD was born in Akins, Oklahoma on June 15, 1933 to Charles Henry Harl and Dessie Margaret (Long) Harl. She grew up in Sallisaw, Oklahoma where she met and married Donald Ray Southern and eventually moved to Wichita Ks. Together they had eight children: five boys and three girls. They were married 15 years. Later, she married Joe Lain and they moved to Valley Center, Kansas where they resided 24 years and raised their only daughter. Their next move was to her dream home in 1990. Joe and Thelma were married 29 years and enjoyed having children and grandchildren accompany them out on "The Farm." Joe became ill and passed away in 1996. In 2001 she met her current husband, Ron Maynard. They married in 2004. Together they enjoyed traveling, working in the yard and relaxing while listening to Ron play the drums at the local VFW. At the age of 67 she retired from the Aircraft industry where she worked for 30+ years. She was also very active in the Union, being Union Stewardess for many years at Cessna Aircraft. She loved children in general and especially loved being around her own children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, nature and especially loved her "frequent visitors," the hummingbirds. After many months of illness, she passed away in her home, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 10, at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center.
