Sidney Eugene Sowers, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away September 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Nellie Sowers, brothers Charles and Stan, and his wife of 39 years, Joan. He is survived by his brother Randy (Theresa), sister Audrey (Ray), and sister in law Sharon. Also his children Becca, Clayton (Yvonne), Ross (Rachel), and Charlie (Amber) and grandkids Dot, Grace, Emmie, Nadia, Naomi, Noah, Autumn, Maverick, and Elena, and many other family and friends. He was born September 7, 1952 the 4th of 5 children. He grew up on a farm Northeast of Leoti. Attended Hill Top Gradeschool, High Plains School—which he helped name, Wichita County High School, and Central Christian College in McPherson where he met his wife to be. He was married to Joan (the love of his life) Aug 5, 1973 until her death Sept 6, 2012. He joined the Air National Guard Sept 26, 1972 and retired from the Air National Guard as a MSGT in 1993. He was a Civil Servant with the Air National Guard from 1973–May 1979. May 1979 he went on Active Duty with the Smoky Hill ANG Range. In November of 1986 he went to work as a salesman for Huber Maintenance Supply. He continued to work for HMS in some capacity until his death. He loved God and loved people and gave all he had to show that. 

Viewing is 10am Thursday, October 1st at Central Community Church, 6100 W Maple, Wichita, KS 67209 with service to follow at 11am. Interment following the service at Valley Center Memorial Cemetery in Valley Center Kansas.
