Cowel, Susan Janice (Maxey), 49, Westar Billing Customer Rep, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 23, 2013. She was born in Reno, Nevada, the daughter of Robert H. and Janice (Hanratty) Maxey. On April 15, 1988 she married Jeffrey Cowel. She is survived by her husband Jeff Cowel and son, Jake Cowel; father Robert (Ardean) Maxey; siblings, Thomas (Sheryl), Teresa (Tim) Shane, Kevin (Laura), Julia, Angela (Kurt) Percival, Patrick and Tara (Robert S). She was preceded by her mother Janice Hanratty, brothers Robert S and Sean, and sister Kathleen. She loved the night sky and the stars, imagining they were family members twinkling brightly who had passed before her. She loved all holidays, enjoyed life to the fullest and was a giver who always thought of others. Memorials may be designated to Calvary Baptist Church, 320 N. Sheridan, Valley Center, KS 67147 and Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, Ks 67218. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31 at Calvary Baptist Church, 320 N.
