Obituary

Steven G. Sorensen , age 71,  passed away on September 9, 2021 in Salina, Kansas. He was born in Hartley, Iowa to Gene and Donna (Brummer) Sorensen.  Steve graduated from Hartley High School in 1968 then attended Iowa State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology. After graduation he moved to Kansas to work for Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, where he worked until his early retirement due to health issues. He continued his passion for conservation through work with Kansas Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation, and many other organizations.

Preceded in death by his parents Gene and Donna Sorensen, his wife Carol (Bjostad) Sorensen, and his sister Pattie Engle.

Steve is survived by his son Bryan (Arin) Sorensen, Concordia, KS, and their children Bryson and Blayne; daughter Shandra (Matt) Robb, Wichita, KS, and their children Alexis, Xander and Korvin; former wife Jeanenne (Buhrmann) Cullop, Wichita, KS; sister, Deb Sorensen, Cherokee, IA; brother-in-law, Steve Engle, Kingsley, IA; and other relatives and friends.

It was Steve's wishes to be cremated.  A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, KS 67147. A prayer service will follow.
