Obituary

Stanley H. Nunnenkamp, of Wichita, retired electrical engineer, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 18, 2021, in his home with his family by his side after a long battle with Lymphoma. He was a 1950 graduate of Valley Center High School. He earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1970, from Wichita State University. He will be remembered as a kind and unselfish husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

A veteran, Stan proudly served in the Army in from 1953 – 1955. It was while in the Army that he met his wife, Frances Nadine George. After a long-distance courtship by letter, he married her on September 11, 1955. They were married 65 years and were blessed with two children, Sheri and Steven.

After his discharge from the Army, Stan began his career with Boeing Aircraft Company. He then worked for Cessna Aircraft Company, Piper Aircraft Company and LearJet before returning to Cessna where he was involved in the development of the Cessna Citation. He retired in 1995.

He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, carpentry, and gardening, but his favorite was fishing. He enjoyed taking his son-in-law and his grandchildren fishing as often as possible. They cherish many fond memories of these adventures. An avid sports enthusiast, Stan spent many happy hours watching his five grandchildren participate in many sports programs.

Stan could literally fix anything. He unselfishly spent many hours fixing appliances, cars, and toys for his family. His family was everything to him and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Steven D. Nunnenkamp, and his parents Earnest A. Nunnenkamp and Ruth F. (Bock) Nunnenkamp, as well as three brothers and a sister.

Stan is survived by his wife, Nadine of the home, and his daughter Sheri (Brian) Schoenthaler of Valley Center, and five grandchildren, Brandon Schoenthaler, Park City, Kan., Brenton Schoenthaler (Tara) of Overland Park, Kan., Braden Schoenthaler (Michaela) of Derby, Kan., Bryson Schoenthaler (Heather) of Wichita, Kan., and Brittni (Dalton) Rodriguez of Park City, Kan., and six great grandchildren, Brynlee Schoenthaler, Everett Schoenthaler, Skylar Schoenthaler, Ezra Schoenthaler, Liam Rodriguez and Jameson Schoenthaler.
