Shirley Ann Smith, age 74, passed on Saturday, April 1 st 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born in Valley Center Kansas to Albert "Fuzzy" and Lucille (Carnahan) Fielding. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Valley Center, she attended Valley Center schools and was a member of the 1966 graduating class. After graduating from high school Shirley accepted a position at Koch Industrials within the clerical department where she would meet her future lifelong husband Charles Smith. They would be married 52 years this month. After graduating and creating a career Shirley enjoyed long summer drives in her 1966 mustang that she was able to buy off the show room floor. Later, in life Shirley would continue to work within the admin clerical fields in medical offices as Office Admin/Managers as well as spend several years prior working with special needs children as a para-professional for the Valley Center School District. Shirley loved flowers, home decor and all of God's animal. She went on to spend many of her springtime hours in the garden up to her elbows in dirt planting new flowers and working hard to make sure her home had colorful curb appeal.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Albert and Lucille Fielding, brothers James" Jimmy" Fielding and Ron Fielding.
Shirley is survived by her husband Charles Smith, daughter Tammy (Mike) Swanson, son Chris (Kalise) Smith, sisters Mary Lou Stevens and Janet Overman, granddaughter Hailey Smith, grandson Ethan Smith, granddaughter Breanna Thompson, sister-in-law Joydell Smith, other family and friends.
Visitation for Shirley will be held 5-7 p.m., Monday, April 10 and Service 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, both held at Grace Connections, 300 N. Ash, Valley Center, Kansas. Graveside will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
Memorials may be designated in her memory to the Valley Center Animal League or the American Diabetes Association.
