Obituary

Shirley Jean (Black) Duncan, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021, two days before her 84th birthday. She was born March 29th, 1937 to James David Black and Katie (Lobb) Black.  Shirley was a graduate of Valley Center High School. Shirley met Kenneth L. Duncan in High School and they were married in 1954. She was a day care provider, then worked for Barney's Shoe Store until it closed. She then was a faithful employee of Valley Center School System in several capacities until she retired. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed painting ceramics and camping with her family and friends. Her greatest love and joy was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Duncan, son Craig Duncan, grandson Gary Wiechman, her parents James and Katie Black, brothers David, Homer, Kenneth, Dale, Lloyd, James, Robert, Arnold, Jerry, and sisters Wilma Yardley and Opal Sawhill.

Shirley is survived by her brother Eldon Black and sister Doris Stanfield; daughters Teresa Russell and Kathy (Greg) Wiechman; grandson Josh Duncan; 5 grandchildren Amanda Duncan, Crystal (Dave) Moore / Barber, Kaylee (Scott) Goering and Kenneth Wiechman; 10 great grandchildren Kendra and Allison Duncan, Roaana and Shaelyn Duncan, Cadyn, Kannen and Carley More, Easton, Brody and Miles Goering; 1 great great grandchild Vidia Dodge; many other family and friends.

Graveside Service with viewing will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 2, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery, 7411 N. Rock Road, Wichita, Kansas.
