Obituary

WICHITA, KANSAS

SHARON LORRAINE (MAXFIELD) MINOR , 74, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Wayne and Lela (Lord) Maxfield. She was a graduate of Valley Center High School Class of 1961. On December 29, 1961, she married the love of her life John Minor. Sharon excelled in everything she did, changing the lives of many. She was known throughout the world by her call letters KDØXW. She and her husband, John participated in many events locally such as the River Festival to the State level. She was in Emergency Management for more than 30 years. She was Ham Radio President and Kansas Ham of the year. She volunteered teaching others and testing them for Ham Radio. She was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother. She loved knitting, sewing, crafting among so many other things she was talented in doing. But most of all she enjoyed and loved her family taking time to attend and support her children and grandchildren in their activities. Sharon is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Minor; children Mikki (Ron) Gilmore of Bel Aire, Sandi (Kevin) Swint of Emporia; grandchildren, Forrist Shultz, Alix (Jon) McLeod, Logan (Jade) Minor, Karsynne Minor, Tyler Gilmore, Adam (Kayla) Gilmore; great grandchildren Emma Shultz, Thea Minor and Harper Gilmore; brother Terry (Peggy) Maxfield of Emporia; many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Jim Minor. Service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 26 at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in her memory to Home Health of Kansas, 7607 E. Harry, Wichita, Kansas 67207. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com.
