Obituary

Russell Kurt Baxter, 60, of Park City, Kansas, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on October 29, 2025.

Russ was born on August 31, 1965, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Jerry and Janice (Roberts) Baxter. Growing up, his family moved often, but he eventually settled in Derby, Kansas, where he graduated from Derby High School in 1983. He continued his education at Butler County Community College while beginning his long and dedicated career at Hawker Beechcraft.

In 1984, Russ met the love of his life, Lisa (May) Baxter. The two were married in December of 1986 and shared a devoted marriage that lasted until his passing. Together, they raised two sons, Brett and Bryan, who were the pride of his life.

Russ worked at Hawker Beechcraft for 26 years before taking a new position with Kansas 811. He was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and steady presence. Outside of work, he loved coaching and officiating, spending time fishing, and cheering on Shocker baseball.

More than anything, Russ cherished his family. He was a proud and loving "Papaw" to his three grandchildren, Oakley, Walker, and Breckan, who brought him endless joy.

Russ will be remembered for his quiet strength, humor, and the way he showed up for others—whether on the ball field, at work, or at home.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Baxter; sons Brett (Kristin) Baxter and Bryan Baxter; his grandchildren Oakley, Walker, and Breckan; his father Jerry Baxter, his brother Rod (Susy) Baxter; and many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply. He is preceded in death by his mother Janice Baxter and his sister Twyla Baxter
