Ruby E. Deken, 73 of Evansville passed away at 6:02 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital Hynes Hospice, Wichita, KS. She was born October 15, 1940 in Mackey, Indiana the daughter of the late Luther and Mary (Gibson) Kleiman. She was a member of McCutchanville Community Church. Ruby had worked for many years as a secretary for Pizza Hut Corporation in the main office and for REM-X Office Machines. Ruby loved to travel and had been to 24 countries plus many places in the United States with her brother, sister and sister-in-law. She loved to garden and had over 100 varieties of day lilies. She also enjoyed crocheting and taking pictures. Ruby especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by children, Kim Peterson and Rob Hammel (Ronna), both of Valley Center, KS, step-children, Missy O'Brien (Scott), Cynthia Halliburton (Forrest), Thomas R. Deken and Bobby Deken, all of Evansville, siblings, Kenneth Kleiman (Donna) of St. Louis, MO and Marilyn Wright, of Evansville, grandchildren, Cody Hammel of Tulsa, OK, Katie Hammel of Valley Center, KS, and Lauren, Megan, Cameron, Peyton, Madalyn, Dustin, Dillon, Tommy Jr., Bobby, Katy, Julian and Sara, all of Evansville, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 13 years, Charles Deken in 2003.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Monday, October 20, 2014 at McCutchanville Community Church, 9505 Petersburg Rd., Evansville with Pastor Stan Gilham officiating. Burial will be in McCutchanville Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville and again from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, Monday at the church.
