Morrison, Ronald Dean, 70, retired Butler County Under Sheriff, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jess and Maudell (Hedrick) Morrison He was raised in Newton, Kansas where he attended school and graduated in 1961 from Newton High School. Ron married Nancy Jeffries on June 3, 1961. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He then joined the Tucson Arizona Police Dept. on July 1, 1965 and served there until June 1, 1971. On August 23, 1967 he married Beverly Lewis in Tucson, Arizona. He was in private business 1971 to July 1977 at which time he joined the Butler County Sheriff's Dept. where he served for 17 years of his career, serving as Under Sheriff. He was in private business until retirement in 2004. Ron married Johnnie K. Nunns on May 11, 1991. Ron is preceded in death by his son Darrin, his parents Jess and Maudell, brothers Ike, Gene and Rick, sisters Delia and Frances. He is survived by his wife Johnnie of the home; sons, Chris (Kelli) Morrison of Grove, Oklahoma and Kirk (Rhonda) Morrison of El Dorado, Kansas; daughter Trudi (David) Cook of N. Richland Hills, Texas; step-children, Jeff Nunns of Redondo Beach, California, Lisa Nunns of Wichita, Kansas and Lori Nunns Michels of Murrieta, California; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation 1 p.m. and Service 2 p.m., Monday, August 26, at Salem Methodist Church, 115 Old Main St., Newton. Burial following the service at Greenwood Cemetery, 1100 West 1st St., Newton.
