Obituary

Ronald Harold Meyer, 87, of Valley Center, Kansas, passed away on October 19th, 2025. He was born December 22, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harold Jess Meyer and Margaret Arleen (Dedrich) Meyer Smith. He was a 1957 graduate of Seaman High School in Topeka, Kansas. "Ronnie" was his nickname.  He had two sisters Shiela (Meyer) Holloway and Margaret Anne (Smith) Davey.

On December 26, 1962, Ronnie married Helena Margo (Bartell) Meyer. Her nickname was "Tootie".  They had three children. They lived in Springfield, Missouri, Wichita, Kansas and Valley Center for almost half of a century.  Ronnie started driving OTR in the early 1970's where he enjoyed the freedom of the open road, the "CB" radio interaction with other truckers and loved the movie "Smoky and the Bandit". The comradery with other OTR drivers and driving in a convoy.  Tootie started driving OTR with him as his "team" driver, which they did for many years.

Ronnie had a need for speed and power which he enjoyed through many of his different cars and motorcycles. He and Tootie took many ross country motorcycle trips too.  His last car which he called "Big Red" was his favorite, a wide body Dodge Challenger.

Ronnie is survived by a son Ronald L. Meyer (Jeff) of Kansas City, Missouri, and a daughter Christine Woods (Ron) of Belle Plaine, Kansas; 6 grandchildren Zach, Brandon, Melissa, Marcus, Jonathan, and Everett; 10 great grandchildren; other family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife "Tootie" Helena Meyer, daughter Carol Meyer, sisters Sheila Holloway and Margaret Davey, mother Margaret Smith and father Harold Meyer.

Services will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas on Wednesday, November 26th at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Isaacs.
