Robert 'Sonny' Ulbrich , 91, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2016, in Newton, Kansas. Born at home in rural Furley, Kansas, he was a lifelong farmer and cattleman of Furley and then Valley Center. Sonny was born on April 11, 1925 to Robert Arthur and Hattie Maude Ulbrich. He was the ninth of ten children. Sonny married Helen Eilert on August 25, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, and all nine of his siblings, five brothers and four sisters. Sonny is survived by his three children, Shirlene Ulbrich of Valley Center, Doug (Teresa) Ulbrich of Pomona, Kansas, and Rob (Val) Ulbrich, also of Valley Center; grandchildren Tenessa (Peyton) Gambrell and Kaylee and Jackson, Lisa (Jake) Maxwell and Dylan and Vivian, Ashley (Philip) Zevenbergen, Ben (Brooke) Ulbrich and Anika, and Isaac Ulbrich. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, and Services at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 24, both at the Valley Center Christian Church in Valley Center. Interment will follow at Green Valley Cemetery in Furley. Memorials may be designated to Valley Center Christian Church, 1801 E. Fifth, Valley Center, Kansas 67147.
