WICHITA, KS
Strassburg, Robert Clinton, 89, passed away on Sunday, September16, 2012. He was born in Ackley, Iowa, to William and Ruth (Yingst) Strassburg. He was raised in Ackley where he attended school and was a graduate in the Class of 1940. On April 30, 1960, he married Mary (Louis) Strassburg in Miami, Oklahoma. Bob loved his family and friends, enjoying getting together with them often. He was employed by Cessna Aircraft Company as an Experimental Test Supervisor, retiring in 1985 with a total of 37 years of service. During World War II, Bob was a highly decorated airman serving as radio operator – gunner on the B-26 Marauder as part of the Ninth Air Force. He completed 65 combat missions in 1944 including 2 missions on D-Day. He is survived by his son, Randy Strassburg and wife Kay of Wichita; stepson, Galen Carpenter and wife Ann of Sedona, AZ.; grandchildren, Stephanie (James) Taylor, Ryan (Christina) Strassburg and Ben (Misty) Carpenter; great grandchildren, Amanda (James) Nichols, Kelsey Carpenter and Paige Carpenter; his brother, Roger (Maryann) Strassburg of Akron, Ohio and nephew, Roger (Joyce) Strassburg of Scottsdale, AZ. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Strassburg. Private family Services. Private burial will be at Florence Cemetery, Florence, Kansas.
