Robert L. Nixon, 79 passed away on Sunday, October 10th, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas. Bob was born in Seattle, Washington to Leon and Opal Nixon. He was a life long resident of Wichita, KS. He graduated from Wichita West High School in 1960. Bob was a State Champion in Wrestling. Also, was an All-City Football player. His football team was inducted into the West High School Hall of Fame in October of 2020. After graduation he joined the Marines during the Vietnam War, serving in Japan and Okinawa. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he became a Car Salesman for various dealerships in Wichita. He also owned his own Car Sales business, Nixon Motor Company.
Bob enjoyed spending time with family, and attended the many sporting events involving his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He went to a fly in fishing camp at Lake Deception in Northern Canada, along with Beaver Lake and the White River near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. As well as many lakes in Kansas including Milford Lake his favorite where he caught many fish, but never won the Big Fish Award!
Preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Dennis Grigg and Mark Wilkins.
Survived by Linda, his wife of 31 years; children Robert Nixon II, Tara (Dan) Hagemann, Justin Nixon, Brian (Shonda) Watkins, Kevin Watkins, Michelle (Fred) Watkins-Held; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister Donna Grigg; brother Doug (Tammy) Nixon; sisters-in-law Shirley Wilkins and Kathy (Ed) Tatro; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Friday, October 15th, 2021 at 11 am at Riverlawn Christian Church, 4243 N Meridian, Wichita, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Valley Center Cemetery, Valley Center, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be designated in his memory to Riverlawn Christian Church, 4243 N. Meridian, Wichita, Ks 67204.
Baker Funeral Home Valley Center is handling arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com .
