Robert Dean Niedens, passed away on August 16, 2016 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. He was born on July 23, 1938, the son of Rudolph and Nathalia "Dollie" (Dumler) Niedens. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Susank, Kansas. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Hoisington High School, Hoisington, Kansas. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving until 1960. "Once a Marine always a Marine" – Semper Fi. Throughout his life Bob worked in construction and retired from The State of Kansas Highway Department. His passions in life involved hunting, fishing, and trapping, which he began at an early age. Bob was a member of N.R.A. and Ducks Unlimited. On June 12, 1981, Bob and Patricia "Pat" McBride Anderson were married in Wichita, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Pat, his daughter Jacque Niedens Slocum and husband Daniel of Bakersfield, California; grandchildren, Sarah and Jonathan Slocum; Pat's children Paula Rinke and husband Joe of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Leroy Anderson of Wichita; his sister Bernice Deines of Hoisington, Kansas; his brother Don Niedens and wife Dorothy of Great Bend, Kansas; brother-in-law Robert McBride of Wichita, Kansas; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Paul L. Niedens, brothers Herman "Lou" Niedens and Gale Niedens, mother-in-law Ruth Wyatt, and brother-in-law Robert Deines. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9, 2016 at St. John Cemetery, rural Susank, Kansas. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
