Robert Keith Jacob
, 85, of Bentley, passed away Sunday, January 11, at Diversicare of Sedgwick, where he had been a resident since Thanksgiving Day. Bob was born in Wichita on March, 4, 1929, to Arthur Homer and Clarice Aleyne Bright Jacob. He was a resident of the Valley Center, Sedgwick, Bentley area most of his life. Bob married Muriel Ann Vanley March 13, 1950 at Valley Center, Kansas. She died Sept. 14, 2012. Bob was engaged in farming activities all his life. For many years the whole family did custom harvesting and worked for several ranches in Oklahoma and Texas. The highlight of his harvesting career were the years he would do custom work for King Ranch in southern Texas where he harvested and packed silage. In later years he made lavish birdhouses and collected and restored antique farm toys which were featured on a session of Hatteberg's People. Bob and his late wife Muriel were also instrumental in fund raising for and construction of the Bentley Senior Center, Bentley, KS. Survivors include brothers, Don Jacob, Wayne Jacob and Larry Jacob, all of Sedgwick; son Terry and Ruth Jacob, Sedgwick, KS; daughter Janice and Gary Seiler, Valley Center, KS; grandsons, Kyle Jacob and Aaron Wells, and granddaughters, Melissa Wells and Stacie Jacob; and great granddaughters, Leah and Annabelle. He is preceded in death by his wife, Muriel, and great grandson, Logan Simmons. A viewing with family present will be held Thursday, January 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 16 at the Bentley United Methodist Church, 128 S. Wichita, Bentley. Burial will follow the services at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 12002 W. 109th N., rural Sedgwick, Kansas. Memorials can be made to the Bentley Senior Center and Caring Hands Humane Society, Newton.
