ROBERT DUANE HOLDT
was born on April 9, 1963 in Harper Kansas to Lanny Raymond and Carolyn Ann (Barnes) Holdt. The family lived in Harper and Robert started grade school before they started to move around to different places. He went as far as the 8th grade and then later in life, he got his GED while at camp. In 2006, he met Ronda Renee Nutt. Then in 2008, the couple went to Las Vegas and was united in marriage. With this union, Ronda's children: Mylissa, Myles, and Steven, became a huge part of Robert's family. He took pride in being a father as well as when he became a grandfather. Everyone that knew Robert knew he lived quite the life. After many ups and downs, in and out of camp, programs, and more, Robert found a great group of friends when he became active in Alcoholics Anonymous. He was proud to be in this family and having over 2 years sobriety. After a short battle with cancer, Robert passed away on September 17, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 54. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lanny and Carolyn; his grandfather, Chester Barnes; and his aunt, Cheryl Ward. Robert is survived by his spouse, Ronda Holdt of the home in Valley Center, Kansas; brothers, Dennis (Shana) Holdt and Brian Holdt, both of Harper; grandmother, Maxine Barnes of Harper; step-children: Mylissa, Myles, and Steven Schwartz; step-granddaughter, Melyna Greer; many aunts and uncles; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service is at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 613 W 14th, Harper, with Pastor Ron Eden officiating. The family asks that everyone dress casually in honor of Robert's wishes. Robert's ashes will be spread at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the DAV (Disabled AmericanVeterans) in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Homes ~ Harper, Kansas.
