Richard "Dick" E. Thornton, son of Joe and Mary (Good) Thornton passed away on Monday June 16, 2025. Dick had a true love of life from the time he was born. He attended the Reece School until the 8th grade,  then High School in Eureka. He played all sports, but truly loved basketball. After graduation Dick attended Kansas State University until his father had a heart attack, then returned home to help his parents. He helped his father farm and ranch, then started working in the oil fields. Dick was drafted by the Army in mid sixties where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and became a demolition expert. He returned home in 1969 and met a young woman in Reece who had moved from Houston, Texas. He was smitten. After a short courtship, Dick and Connie Carrol Whitsitt were united in marriage for 54 years. They had 3 beautiful children, Rhonda, Rich, and Suzie, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great  grandchildren. Dick is survived by his wife of the home, his  children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dick was 83 years old.
