Richard Damon Salazar, 57, passed away on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Richard and Josephine Salazar. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita. He attended and graduated East High School Class of 1987 and Wichita State University. He was a proud Shocker and member of the pep band. He stayed an avid WSU basketball fan until his passing. After graduation he pursued his passion for music and played in many assemble groups around Wichita. He also loved bowling, excelling at it. He was well loved by many. Damon had a way of telling a story that would always put a smile on your face. It was his life’s mission to make people smile. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Josephine Salazar, grandparents Virginia and Lauro and grandmother Concha Villalpando. Also proceeded in death by 3 of his most cherished cats, Wolfie, Fozzie and Roscoe.
Survived by Robert (Gail) Salazar, Sylvia Villalpando, Terry (Maria) Martinez, Annadell Mooneyham, Maria Martinez, Larina Zomora, David Martinez, uncle Ernie (Ann) Salazar, aunt Yolanda Porter, many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as countless friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m., September 18, at Central Community Church Sanctuary, 6100 W. Maple St, Wichita, Ks 67209.
