WICHITA, KANSAS
RICHARD 'RICK' EUGENE CONNELL , age 67 of Wichita KS, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. He was born in Dodge City Kansas on December 27, 1951 to Jack and Helen (Copeland) Connell.
Rick was larger than life – both in spirit and size. To know him was to love him. Always quick with a laugh and even quicker with sound advice and guidance for his loved ones, Rick approached each day with the fervor of a man who knew that the life he lived was to be cherished and the people he loved knew that they were cherished as well.
Rick served in the Army from 1968 to 1977, serving in various places overseas and stateside. To Rick, serving his country was a great honor. At all times you could find a flag being proudly displayed in his home, reminding each who entered that God and Country were of upmost importance to this strong, proud man.
Rick was a member of Tyler Road Baptist Church, served for many years as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, loved to hunt and fish with his kids and grandkids, and spent many hours in his woodshop crafting beautiful pieces of furniture and décor.
Rick is survived by the love of his life, Robbn (Huff) Connell; Children Richard Jr (Kimberly) Connell, Dillon (Jessica) Connell, Day (Josh) Davidson, Tonya (Mark) Bargas; Grandchildren Breanna Haden, Austin Connell, Bryce Connell, Jalyssa Gutierrez, Inca Bargas, Cohen Connell, Willie Connell, and Wyatt Connell; Great-Granddaughter Elsie DeGrado; Siblings Jane Worell of FL, Jack (Mary) Connell, Susan Washee, and Peggy (Dale) Bing all of Wichita, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents Jack & Helen Connell and brother-in-law Al Washee.
Memorial Service will be held at Tyler Road Baptist Church on Saturday, September 28 th 2019 at 10:00 am followed by a Graveside Service in Valley Center, KS
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Rick's honor be made to Serenity Hospice, 9415 E Harry, Suite 305, Wichita KS 67207.
