Raymond Lee Koegeboehn, 88, of Sedgwick, Kansas passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was surrounded by family throughout his final days and hours.
Raymond was born February 9, 1932 in his family's home near Elmdale, Kansas; the son of Carl and Esther Koegeboehn. He graduated from Chase County High School (Class of 1949) in Cottonwood Falls. Raymond married Nadine Brewer on November 28, 1954, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Township. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator for 2 years. After returning home to Chase County in 1957, Ray was a farmer and rancher along Middle Creek Road. They had 3 children raised on the farm and brought up in love and knowing Christ.
Ray retired in 1999 after farming and ranching for nearly 50 years and also driving the Chase County school bus for 25 years.
Ray served as an elder and trustee for many decades at their home church, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion.
Ray and his wife, Nadine, enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family. Especially they loved spending time with their kids and grandkids and being a part of their lives.
Family gatherings were often spent playing Pinochle, Pitch, or Pins & Jokers with their kids, grandkids, and extended family.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Esther; brother, Mel; and sister, Ruby Mueller. He is survived by daughters, Debbie (Lyle) Heggemeier of Rochester, New York; & Kathy Cline of Wichita, Kansas; son, Gary (Lucy) of San Antonio, Texas and 2 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 2 great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Marion Cemetery on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion, Kansas.
