Phyllis M. Stoops, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, died peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on November 21, 1933, in Wichita, Kansas, to Faye and Hazel Davis, Phyllis's life was a testament to love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and community. Phyllis shared a remarkable journey with her late husband, Bill D. Stoops, whom she married on July 11, 1951. Together, they celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage, nurturing a family that would become her greatest pride and joy.

She was predeceased by Bill, her parents and stepfather as well as her siblings, Wanda Wallweber, Gloria Watts, and Tom McCorkle. Surviving Phyllis are her children, Debbie (Randy) Finch and Robin (Kathy) Stoops. Her family extended further through her five grandchildren, Jake (Beth) Finch, Fletcher (Cheryl) Finch, Rachele Stoops, Ryan (Jenny) Stoops, and Regan (Katie) Stoops. Phyllis's heart was filled with joy by her seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, along with her nieces and nephews, who each held a special place in her heart.

A graduate of North High School, Phyllis was one of the first women to sell plumbing and heating fixtures for Montgomery Wards, a testament to her pioneering spirit. Her career also included roles in real estate, the Urology Clinic, and Valley Center High School, where she left an indelible mark through her dedication and service. Phyllis was a cherished member of Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Center, Kansas. She worked tirelessly to care for the church library. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, inspiring those around her with her kindness, acceptance, and unwavering devotion. She hosted and attended many different Bible studies and worship services and enjoyed her church family. Phyllis found immense joy in her hobbies. She had a flair for decorating and was known for hosting delightful luncheons filled with laughter and camaraderie. Her quick wit and funny comments endeared her to all, bringing warmth and joy.

A graveside service to honor Phyllis's life will be held on April 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Hillside Cemetery, located at 10614 South Hoover Road, Sedgwick, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Center, Kansas, a place that held a special place in Phyllis's heart.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Colwich Gardens Assisted Living for their incredible care and love for Phyllis. Their support and compassion provided comfort daily and especially in her final weeks. Phyllis M. Stoops leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She has touched countless lives with her warmth, strength, and grace, and she will be deeply missed.
