Paul Raymond
"Ray" Boyd
March 6, 1923 – November 9, 2025
Paul Raymond Boyd (Ray), 102 years old, passed away on November 9th of 2025 in Park City, Kansas. He was born in the town of Patrick, Arkansas to his parents James T. and Ida (Patrick) Boyd. Ray grew up working on the family farm with his siblings and attending school up to the 8th grade. In February of 1943, and just shy of his 20th birthday, Ray was inducted into the Army and served with the 28th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron as a Staff Sargent and Tank Operator in Central Europe during World War II. In February of 1946 Ray was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to Arkansas where he joined the Job Corp. He moved to Ponca City, OK and began work at the Continental Oil Refinery as a laborer while taking part in the welding apprenticeship program. After completing the program Ray became a welder for the company and worked his entire career at the refinery, achieving various performance awards and status as a valuable and respected member of the personnel working at the facility. Upon reaching his retirement, he and his wife Doreen decided to move back to Arkansas where members of the family still remained. Ray remained there until after the passing of his wife due to cancer in 1994, and then moved to Kansas to be near his only Son and Grandchildren. Since his arrival in Kansas, Ray met his would be second wife Georgia who he was married to for 23 years until her death in 2019. With the help of his Son, Ray operated a small welding business in the Valley Center / Park City area doing everything from small metal repair projects to larger scale fabrication projects for some of the larger companies in the Wichita area. Ray was a hard working, genuine, caring, and generous man whose drive came from his desire to ensure the ones he leaves behind may have it easier than himself. He will be sorely missed, however His life is to be celebrated as one for the ages, having lived through and seen more than most can imagine in his 102 years of life.
