Obituary

Patsy Ann Booth‑Forgey, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the home of her youngest son in Kansas, surrounded by her family.

Patsy was born on November 16, 1943, in Hamburg, Illinois, to Loami H. Booth and Eva M. Hunter‑Booth. She was raised on Hamburg Hill overlooking the Mississippi River, a place that always held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers John F. Booth, Eugene R. Booth, and Gary Booth; her sister Lela M. Booth‑Foster; and her son Philip Love.

Patsy is survived by her beloved husband, Larry B. Forgey of Pleasant Hill, Illinois, whom she married in 1984. Larry devotedly fathered her boys as if they were his own. She is also survived by her children Brian Love (Goddard, Kansas), Scott Love (Udall, Kansas), Cliff Love (Winfield, Kansas), and Mike Matson (Haysville, Kansas); her brother Hugh A. Booth of Jacksonville, Illinois; her sister Linda L. Booth of St. Louis, Missouri; ten grandchildren; and twenty great‑grandchildren.

Patsy was a Registered Nurse, licensed in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois, beginning her nursing career in 1976. She worked at the Robert J. Dole Memorial Veterans Hospital, where her compassion and dedication to caring for others were evident to all who knew her. In 2004, she contracted a virus while working there that caused irreversible damage to her heart.

For more than 50 years, Patsy moved between Illinois and Udall, Kansas, maintaining deep roots in both places and a wide circle of family and friends. She was officially diagnosed as terminal on March 2, 2026, and returned to Kansas on March 13, 2026, to spend precious time with her sons, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren.

Patsy was well known for her love of animals and birds, often taking in injured wildlife brought to her by loggers in Illinois. Her compassion for animals was matched only by her love for people, which showed through her kind, polite, and gentle nature. Those who met Patsy were always met with warmth, respect, and quiet strength.

Patsy will be laid to rest in Hamburg Hill Cemetery in Hamburg, Illinois, between her mother and her youngest brother, Gary, returning her to the beautiful place where her life began.

Services will be held:

  • Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill, Illinois
