Patricia (Hemphill)
Wulff
April 6, 2021
Life began for Patricia on October 24, 1949 in St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Patricia was adopted at birth into her earthly family of Byron and Bonnie Hemphill and traveled home to Bonner Springs, Kansas where she grew up, attended school, began a musical career in voice and piano as well as a love of riding horses and many other pets. At the age of seven, Patricia and her mother came to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, because of the witness of a neighbor lady. Consequently this mother daughter combo then lead Dad (or Barney as we call him) to faith just a year later by their witness. Bonner Springs was never the same as this young family shared Christ's love with friends and neighbors everywhere they went. During this time. It was during this time that an older Brother Ronnie, and a younger sister Donna joined the family. The rather unique thing about this is that Patricia and Donna have the same birth mother and adopted family!
It was just a few short years later that Patricia and family moved up the road to Basehor, Kansas where Patricia graduated from High School and participated in Bringing Young people to Saturday Night Rallies at Kansas City Youth for Christ. It was here that Patricia won awards for her musical abilities and shared them with many!
The Fall of 1967 brought many changes in Patricia's life. The first of which was attending Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri and gaining many new friends. In 1968 she began commuting to college from Basehor, which was about a 45-minute drive one way through congested Kansas City, Kansas into Missouri. It was that year through chorale class and chorale tour in the spring that she was introduced to the funny fat fellow with an award-winning laugh! Good friends from chorale Richard and Vivian Bell arranged for her to ride with them in the van accompanying the chorale bus and asked the fellow with the award-winning laugh to ride along. Two years later, in 1971 on the 11 th of June Patricia became Mrs. Paul Wulff.
From the fall of 1971 through the days just gone by Patricia has utilized her gifts, talents and education being a Pastor's wife, confident, an accomplished seamstress, teacher both in (public education and private education) as well as musician and counselor. Through churches and ministries in Iowa, Kansas, California and Missouri Patricia has ministered to Ladies, youth, Special needs Adults and children in many different avenues. The ministry partners and friends that she has assisted or have assisted her are many! The highlights and challenges are testimonies of God's grace! Her opportunities for service were only cut short by a diagnosis of Frontal Temporal Dementia in 2012. Patricia spent the last 6 years of her life in a severely hampered state by not being able to communicate.
Patricia is survived by her Husband, Paul Bentley, Ks. her children Andrew (Melissa), Aimee (Chris) Lucas of Lee Summit, Mo., and Anita (Matt) Tillson of McKinney, Texas along with their spouses and 9 grandchildren. Her sister Donna Shaw of Azusa, Calif. also survives. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at Pleasant Valley Church, 12002 W. 109 th N., Sedgwick, Ks. on Saturday, April 24 th at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be designated in her memory to Gideons International.
