Orvan William Baxter,, 85, retired Farmer and retired Bentley Sand Company employee, passed away, Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was born in rural Valley Center, Kansas to John William Baxter and Lola Pearl (Wilson) Baxter. He was a graduate of Bentley High School. Orvan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. He is survived by his wife Elsie; children, Tim (Gayle) Baxter of Wellington, Craig (Karen) Baxter of Bentley, Ann (Bob) Hett of Wichita, Rich (Brenda) Bishop of Augusta, Regina (Erwin) King of Centerton, AK, John (Pam) Bishop of Broken Arrow, OK, Brenda (Jeff) DeHaven of Sedgwick, Judy (Scott) Schaffer of Andover; 25 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; brothers Virgil (Peggy) Baxter of Sedgwick, Dean (Shirley) Baxter of Milo, MO; sisters Connie Nordstedt of Sedgwick and Donita (Paul) Boerger of Sedgwick; many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Vivian Base and brother John Wayne Baxter. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 109th N. and 119th W., Bentley, Kansas. Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center.
