Norman Keith Trevolt, sr.
Andover, Kansas – Norman Keith Trevolt, Sr., 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 7, 2013. He was born to Claude Trevolt and Ethel Mae (Oman) Trevolt on May 8, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up and spent almost his entire life in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1948. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Navy. At first his mother was heartbroken, but was so proud that he was serving his country. He served in the Navy from July 1948 to June 1953 with the rank as Navy AC2. He worked as a control tower operator and "often" shared his stories about his experiences on Guam. After leaving the Navy he returned to Kansas City, Kansas, and met the "girl of his dreams." He married his "sweetheart," Mildred Grace Dawber on May 16, 1954. He frequently mentioned how thankful he was that the Lord brought her into his life. He loved her dearly. Shortly after being married, he took a position as Advertising Sales Representative with The Shopper. He was actively involved in sales, layout, and distribution of this advertising journal. He was an accomplished cartoonist and utilized his talent in the Navy, in advertising, and in the Lord's work. After working for The Shopper, he ventured out and started his own company, Keith Trevolt Sales. He was involved in business forms and distribution of office supplies. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling around Kansas City and the Overland Park area. He enjoyed meeting people and they enjoyed meeting him. He and Grace raised two (eternally grateful) children, Keith, II, (married to Becky) and Kathy. He was blessed by God with three beautiful grandchildren, Rachel (Eddie) Peay, Amy (Joshua) Morrison, and Keith III. He also loved and enjoyed the fellowship of his three delightful great-grandchildren, Kaden, Jordan, and Darian Peay.
The most important day of his life occurred in November 1954. It was a day that would change his life forever. He was a "good" man, but he did not know the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was always so glad and happy to tell how the Lord had changed his life. He was given the Gospel before he was married, but at first it made him angry. He did not want to be told he was a sinner. God continued to work on his heart until that glorious night when his life was changed for the rest of eternity. He awakened in the middle of the night in a frustrating panic and he did not know why. He was restless and uneasy. It was so apparent that the Lord was working on him that his precious wife asked if he wanted to get saved. He immediately proclaimed, "That's it!" He dropped to his knees and asked the Lord to save him. He finally realized that God had demonstrated His love by sending His own Son to die for him. He believed that the Lord Jesus Christ had paid the price for his sins. He asked the Lord to save him. He was never the same. He was bound and determined to raise his family under the sound of the gospel and the authority of the Word of God. He served as an elder for many years at Carriage Hill Gospel Chapel, Kansas City, Kansas, and The Bible Chapel at Shawnee, Kansas, until his health declined. He never stopped praying for the Lord's work to continue. He was a man of prayer.
He was a man who loved the Lord Jesus. This was evident in his love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was also deeply concerned for those who are lost and without Christ. He would weep when thinking about family members or close friends who were not saved. In 2011, he moved to Andover, Kansas, to be with his children because of failing health. On June 7, 2013, he was "absent from the body and present with the Lord." Even though we sorrow, we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. We look forward to the day of Christ's return and seeing him again in glory. What a day of rejoicing that will be.
