Michael Steven Stamper “Mike”, 83, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was born Saturday, November 7, 1942, in Middletown, Ohio to parents Dewey and Lottie Stamper. He had a brother, William Dewey (Junior) Stamper and a sister Phyllis A. Smith. The family lived on a small farm in southwest Ohio where he was raised..

Mike was a 1960 graduate of Middletown High School. Upon receiving his draft notice and passing the physical, he decided to join the Air Force in 1964 where he served until retirement in 1984. In 1965, Mike married the love of his life, Bev, in 1965, and to this union 3 children were born. The Air Force moved the family 13 times, with the last move to Wichita, Kansas where they remained for the next 45 years. A Vietnam War Veteran, Mike served in Vietnam and Thailand being exposed to Agent Orange which contributed to his health problems. He was very proud of being a part of the Air Force and went on the Kansas Honor Flight #39 and welcomed many of the Honor Flights when they arrived back in Wichita.

In 1977 Mike joined the Lockbunne Masonic Lodge #232 on May 12 in Ohio. He has been a faithful member to present where he is a member of Newton Masonic Lodge #142 along with his sons and a grandson.

Mike and his family attended Kechi United Methodist Church where he loved serving at church events and enjoyed several mission trips. His last job was with the Kansas Geological Survey where he retired in 2007. After final retirement he liked sharing time with friends at McDonald. Another favorite time was sitting on his deck, just quietly watching the world go by. His love for his dogs during his lifetime was treasured. Yet Mike’s greatest love was for his family and time he spent with them. He remained active with his family, at church, in the community and with friends until the end.

He is survived by his lovely wife Bev, children Wesley (Michelle) Stamper, Eric Stamper (Rick), Lisa (Jimmy) Santiago, grandchildren Kylie, Brenna, Olivia and Dominic, nieces Debbie Jo Parker and Christie Sword, other family and many friends. He was preceded by his parents, brother, sister and niece Jovetta Wysong.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, October 3, at the Kechi United Methodist Church, 4533 E. 61st St N, Kechi, Kansas. Graveside following at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, with Masonic and Military honors.
