Michael "Mike" Steven Stamper, 83, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was born on November 7, 1942, in Middletown, Ohio, to parents Dewey and Lottie Stamper. He had a brother, William Dewey 'Junior' Stamper, and a sister, Phyllis A. Smith, as well as two siblings (Patricia and Joseph) who passed in infancy. Mike was raised with his family on a small farm in southwest Ohio.

Mike graduated from Middletown High School in 1960. Upon receiving his draft notice and passing the physical, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served from 1964–1984. In February 1965, Mike married the love of his life, Beverly. Together with their three children, they moved 13 times with the Air Force with their last move to Wichita, Kansas, where they remained for the next 45 years. A proud Vietnam War veteran, Mike participated in Kansas Honor Flight #39 and took great joy in welcoming home fellow veterans from their own flights.

In May 1977, Mike joined Lockbourne Masonic Lodge #232 in Ohio. A faithful Mason for nearly 50 years, he was a proud member of Newton Masonic Lodge #142 with his two sons and grandson.

Mike and his family attended Kechi United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed serving alongside friends and family at church events and participating in several mission trips. He retired from the Kansas Geological Survey in 2007. After his retirement, Mike enjoyed talking with friends at McDonald's or sitting quietly on his deck, watching the world go by. Above all, Mike's greatest love was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife, Beverly; children Wesley “Wes” (Michelle) Stamper, Eric "Ric" Stamper, and Lisa (Jimmy) Santiago; grandchildren Kylie, Brenna, Olivia, and Dominic; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and many other loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Kechi United Methodist Church, 4533 E. 61st St. N., Kechi. Graveside following at Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, with military honors.
