Michael D. Melzer 68, of Valley Center, Kansas, went to be with his Father in Heaven on the evening of March 28, 2024. He was born on September 9, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, to Norman and Wanda (Fechner) Melzer.  In 1976, he wed Cynthia DeThample. Married 44 years, they raised their 3 children: Scott, Jay, and Mark. He retired after 34 years at Boeing / Spirit AeroSystems and family business. He had a passion for his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren Rilee and Brantley. Hobbies of his included woodworking, fishing, telling stories, and taking care of his yard.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia and parents Norman and Wanda Melzer.

Michael is survived by his sons Scott (Tracy) Melzer, Jay (Stephani) Melzer, Mark (Samantha) Melzer all of Wichita; grandchildren Rilee and Brantley Melzer, sister Sherida (Tom) Ely, sister Michelle (Rick) Parker; along with several nieces and nephew; other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, between 5 to 7 pm at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S Cedar, Valley Center. Service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10 am at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 6770 E 34th St n. Wichita, Kansas. Graveside following the service at Valley Center Cemetery, 9700 N Meridian, Valley Center, Kansas.
