Melvin Wayne Kennedy, Our beloved father and grandfather, 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Francis Irene Brown and Carl Wayne Kennedy on November 25, 1954. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita.

Wayne was a thoughtful and generous man to his family and friends. His sense of humor was strong and his wisdom was heartfelt and honest. A man who loved God first, with all his heart, and his daughter and grandsons a close second. He was loved and appreciated by his family and will be deeply missed by all. Guaranteed never to be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Francis (Brown) Walker & Carl Kennedy; his siblings, Jeanie Fairleigh, David Daniels, and Deanna Kennedy; and his grandson Shelly L. Barnett Jr.

Melvin is survived by his daughter Jessica Burley (Kennedy-Rye),  grandsons Stephan LaMont Barnett and Asa James Burley; his brothers Kenny Henry, Roger Daley, Marty Kennedy and sister Tammy Brandt; other family members include: Chuck Fairleigh, Jamie Cook (Kennedy), Andrew Kennedy, Callie Trevino, Tatum Dulin, Nick Brandt, Casey and Brileigh Stuart, Clare and Chaney Kennedy.

Memorial service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, January 13th at Rolling Hills Community Church, 8605 W Maple St., Wichita Kansas.  Send flowers or donations to Rolling Hills Community Church.
