Mathias "Matt" Schommer Jr passed on April 25, 2026. He was born September 24, 1935 in Kingman, Kansas to Matt and Alice (Klee) Schommer. He for two years in the U.S. Army. He then married Monona Lynn Cummings.

He is survived by his son Matt "Bud" and wife Lynda, daughter Chris "Sis" and husband Tim; sister Kathleen Polzin of Emporia, sister-in-law Gaylene Schommer; grandchildren Tailor, Katie, Aleksa, Arynna and Alyvia; great grandchildren Jaiden, Koe and Hutch; many nieces, nephews and other family.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Anna Hitz, Gertrude Zimmerman, Rita Jackson, brothers James, Donald, Ronald, Charles and John.

He attended St. Rose and Great Bend High School.  He was a natural mechanic at a young age, as he loved racing cars and fishing on Lake Texoma.
