MARY ELIZABETH KIRBY, 91 years old, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2015 in Valley Center, Kansas surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Lloyd Lawrence 'Bud' Kirby and Doretta (Harman) Kirby. She was a graduate of Chanute High School, Pittsburg State University and received her Master's Degree from Emporia State University. Mary loved teaching for 45 years in the Humboldt, Kansas area, starting out in the one room school house for five years teaching all ages, and then enjoyed teaching grades 2nd through 4th. Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and former students. She lived her Christian faith for everyone to see and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Humboldt. She loved life and loved to travel. She rests in the arms of her Jesus she loved so much. She never married after her fiancé was MIA in World War II. She molded and shaped so many young lives … "I love you, you know that don't you". Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 7, at Elmwood Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas.
