Berning, Mary Jane "Janie" (Knobbe), 78, retired Lakepoint housekeeping supervisor, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She was born in Marienthal, Kansas, to Edward Knobbe and Gertrude (Nienaber) Knobbe. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Berning; children, Roy (Dorrena) Berning of Valley Center, Rex (Kristi) Berning of Newton, Randy (Abby) Berning of Wichita, Russell Berning of Topeka, Sally (Charlie) Hilton of Andale and son-in-law, Bobby Landers of Acworth, GA; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; sister, Lorrell Knobbe of Wichita; brothers, Arden (Virginia) Knobbe of Marienthal, Ks, and Edward (Shirley) Knobbe of CA. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Landers; son, Alan Berning; sister, Lorain Mastel; and parents, Edward and Gertrude Knobbe. Visitation 1-2 p.m. preceding the service, and Service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center with Chaplain Larry McCrary officiating. Burial following the service at Resurrection Cemetery, 1640 N. Maize Rd, Wichita, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Harden Hospice Kansas, 2622 W.
