Mary (Capps)
Andrews
June 21, 1942 – November 25, 2025
Mary Rose Andrews (Née Capps), 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025 in Wichita, KS.
Mary was born in Macks Creek, Missouri to Hobert Lee Capps and Mary Alda Whitworth Capps. She was a resident of Park City, Kansas where she had lived for the last thirty years. She was a graduate of Nelogany High School in Nelogany, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, Mary moved to Wichita, where she met and married Ernest Kelley. Their marriage lasted ten years and they had two daughters. In 1969 she married Kenneth Andrews and together they had a son. Mary also acquired a new stepdaughter with this union.
In addition to her family, which was Mary's greatest joy, Mary had many interests and pursuits. She was a basketball all-star in high school, a bowling champion in adulthood, and an avid horsewoman. She had a great love for music (and at one time managed an all-girl rock band). Mary was a huge sports fan, loving the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals and especially loved Shockers basketball. Mary also loved the casinos!
Mary and Ken together were entrepreneurs, starting up many different businesses over the years in Wichita, including several restaurants and Mercer Transportation Company. Mary was also a songwriter and once penned a song that legendary Marvin Rainwater recorded in the studio.
Survived by sisters Janice Shire and Ruth Kendall (Jess), children Cindy Bentley, Shari Kizziar (Doug), Katherine Hilleary (Mick), and Kenneth Andrews (Rebecca), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents Hobert and Mary Capps, brothers Leon Capps and George Capps, husband Kenneth Neal Andrews and grandson Nicholas Salem.
