Margaret (Fundenberger)
Swindler
March 25, 1931 – December 8, 2025
Margaret Belle (Fundenberger) Swindler was born at home in Sedgwick, Kansas, to Roy Earl and Mabel Louisa (Ferguson) Fundenberger on March 25, 1931. Her older siblings were Glenn, Violet, Dale, and Virginia. Margaret died on December 8, 2025, at Newton Presbyterian Manor after a 10-year battle with Dementia.
She married Lloyd H. Swindler on October 30, 1949, at the Methodist Church in Sedgwick. After Lloyd entered the Methodist ministry, Margaret flourished as a pastor's wife by hosting traveling speakers, learning about members of a church before moving there, and helping at the church wherever needed. During their marriage, they lived in parsonages in Manchester, Barnard, Lebanon, Troy, Logan, Alexander, Coldwater, and Douglass, all in Kansas. After Lloyd's retirement, she spent many weekends traveling with Lloyd as he filled in at various churches.
Margaret had a beautiful alto voice and sang in many church choirs. She played and taught the piano and was a good cook and seamstress. Lloyd and Margaret spent several summers as church camp counselors with various youth groups.
She is survived by daughters Linda Swindler of Great Bend, Kansas, Susan Varble of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Schwarz (Mike) of Abilene, Kansas, and Jeri Tellez of Little Elm, Texas; sons Dale Swindler (Glenda) of Ocean Shores, Washington, and Philip Swindler (Jeannette) of Wichita, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, all of her siblings, three nephews, and a niece.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Global Methodist Church, 600 N Commercial Ave, Sedgwick, Kansas. She will be laid to rest next to Lloyd at Hillside Cemetery near Sedgwick.
