Her sister Angela Classey Chater of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, England and nephew Lucas Chater of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, England. Margaret was born in Gillingham, England on May 31, 1946. She immediately displayed the qualities that she would personify throughout her life. A love of all of God's creatures, a gentle soul, a strong independent spirit, true capacity for forgiveness, loyalty, master of details and organization, but most of all she knew how to love honestly and deeply. As a child of a Naval officer her World travels started early. Born in England her next stop was, Malta where she spent her early childhood. Then came Libya where not only did she stretch her wings of independence as a young career woman she met the love of her life Dick Potter. Her life would never be the same. As she expressed to her daughter-in-law Lisa years later..."life with a Potter is never dull". Margaret achieved various career and life goals but the one that she was most proud of was being sworn in as a U.S. Citizen on January 30, 1987. She and Dick lived and worked in Libya, Algeria, Switzerland and Washington DC. Margaret worked at the United Nations, in Geneva Switzerland and on Capital Hill in Washington D.C. They finally settled on their farm in Sedgwick, KS. Margaret loved her farm life. In retirement she was able to pursue more of her artistic passion, writing and painting. All friends and family feel blessed to have known her and her loss is deeply felt by all.
