KINGMAN, KANSAS
Lori Jean (DeThample) Roeder
Today we are all brought together to celebrate and mourn the life of Lori Jean DeThample-Roeder, born on the 15th of September 1959. She was 60 years old, she passed away amongst close family at Kingman Hospital, Sunday, the 29th of December 2019 after having a beautiful last Christmas with her family. She was born at St. Francis Hospital of Wichita, Ks to parents Virginia and Frank DeThample. Survived by her children Amanda King and Ashley Camplin as well as her three grandchildren, Breauna King, Phoebe and Sydney Camplin; followed by siblings Kevin DeThample, Connie Dargatz, Cindy Melzer, and Lisa Rea. Preceded in death by her parents Virginia and Frank DeThample and siblings Danny DeThample, Ricky DeThample and husband James Roeder. Her spirit of honesty, love and compassion drove Lori to do many honorable and great things in her life. Lori, as a child, had told us about her helping raise her brothers and sisters while attending school and working a full-time job in Wichita. She found money and resources wherever she could. Her productive self was such a frequent and hard worker that she had met the love of her life Jim Roeder while serving him at a diner, called "Jack's" in Wichita when they were both young. They married two years later, working at Cessna Aircraft and Boeing in the mix of starting a family, when they first had Amanda, then having Ashley a few years later. On top of bearing children and being an excellent worker and an organized person, Lori also had a very gifted way with her hands. She was also very generous with giving her talents to those around her. She loved and was a professional at all kinds of sewing techniques and crafts. Amongst her many other talents, Lori was a great cook who infused love and order into her meals for her family. Teaching and carrying on her traditions from her family before her. She held together many of our Holidays, if not all. A fighter, indeed, she battled and beat cancer numerous times in her life. She was a warrior. She was truly on the path to God and bettering her soul on this Earth. That will never go unnoticed. God helped her through some of her hardest times in life, as well as having a loving family. She was the most helpful, caring, and the strongest woman I know. It was a privilege to be a part of this family and to be raised by such a woman, flaws and all. I could write a whole lot longer, but, I think we all felt how genuine and kind she has been in this life. She walked the walk, and talked the talk from the age of seventeen, she made her life happen. It's an inspiration to the many women and men left to tell her story. We love her. She is with family and Jim, amongst the stars. May the energy and spirit that flowed through Lori be eternal and at peace amongst a world of angels. We know she looks down upon her most dearest family and friends. She had a very thin line between the two, she treated everyone she encountered as family. Her love will be remembered and cherished forever. Her memories, forever frozen in time, always there to take a glimpse back into within the confines of our minds. Thank you all for being a part of Loris' life and showing her love along her journey back home, and as she would have wanted; let us remember the good things and to not forget anything that she taught us. Especially to never forget her Holiday traditions and to always believe in yourself and what you can accomplish in the life you're given, despite setbacks and hard times.
