59, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016. He was born in Sterling, Kansas to Howard Lee and Elsie May (Moore) Thurman. He worked at the Lyons Salt Plant in Lyons, Kansas. He is survived by the love of his life his wife Elaine Thurman; his children Opie (Leonard) Thurman, William Hinderliter, Ashlie Hinderliter, Mary Whitestar, Niki Whitestar, Sara Whitestar, John Romans, Laura Hooker; several grandchildren; brothers Doug Thurman and Joe Critchfield; sisters Vivian Bliss, Verna Bagby, Dori Prebble and Patsy Ramirez; many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Mabel Moore, his mom Elsie Critchfield, son Jeffery Thurman, brother Daryl Thurman, father-in-law Don Bratton, nieces Courtney, Angela and Shalee. Family Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alden School in Alden, Kansas. Baker Funeral Home Valley Center has charge.
