Lawrence E. Howland, 79, of Valley Center, beloved husband, dad, grandpa and brother, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Born in Wichita, Kansas to Donald and Mary (Rohrig) Howland. After graduation he served and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a small business owner for many years until retirement. Larry was an avid animal lover who enjoyed hunting and training dogs, as well as an AKC Judge for field trials. He was inducted into the Kansas Heritage Hall of Fame for Kansas Pointing Dogs. He also enjoyed horseback riding, and after retirement fishing. The greatest joy he had was spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded by his parents, his sisters Mary Ann Rohrig and Joan Wentling.
Larry is survived by his wife Clarinda Howland, children Wade (Dayna) Howland, Sandra (Craig) Mills, Laura Jean (Rob) Takacs, Crystal Blanton, Melanie (Darren) Beckham, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brothers Ted (Barbara) Howland and step brother Jim (Sue) Rohrig.

Visitation 5 - 7 p.m., Monday, January 29, and Service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, both held at First United Methodist Church, 560 N. Park, Valley Center, Kansas. Graveside following at the Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
