On the evening of November 16, 2015, Kristen passed away comfortably and peacefully, surrounded by family and friends in Wichita, Kansas. Kristen suffered a sudden and unexpected brain hemorrhage November 14, and she was unable to recover. She was 20 years old. Kristen was born on March 17, 1995 in Iowa. She joined the Patterson family on October 29, 1997. She was adopted on October 23, 2000 by Jim and Sherri Patterson. Kristen attended elementary school in Iowa for several years. Kristen and her family moved to Kansas in 2006. She attended middle school and high school in Valley Center. Kristen graduated from Valley Center High School in 2014. Following graduation, she attended Maize TransNet until her death. Kristen was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Margaret Patterson. Kristen is survived by father James Patterson, mother Sherri Patterson; brothers Daniel (Kari) Hackney of Tucson, AZ and Matthew Patterson of Valley Center, KS; sisters Andrea (John) Bascom of Omaha, NE, Jessica (Joe) Rasmussen of Oakland, IA, Kira (Osman) Elbeyli of Laurel, MD, Megan Vaughan and Zabrina Moore, both of Crescent, OR; grandparents Loyd and Loree Dredge of Park City, KS, Ron and Roxanne Moore of Crecent, OR, Steve and Beth Russell of Oklahoma City, OK; great grandmother Elaine Durigan of Lexington, MO; nieces and nephews Sara and John Bascom, Kimberly, Elizabeth, and Abigail Rasmussen, Lena Drege, and soon to be born Attila Elbeyli. Kristen's memorial service, celebration of life, will be on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10am at Le Venue, 109 West Main Street in Valley Center, Kansas. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 21, 2015, one hour prior to the service beginning at 9am. Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center is handling arrangements.
