Kay (Stauffer)
April 6, 2021
Sandra Kay (Stauffer) Tweet (81) passed away quietly at home, surrounded by family, on April 6, 2021.
She was born in Salina, KS to Walter and Betty (Sloan) Stauffer. She grew up in Wichita, KS where she graduated from North High School, later earning a degree in Education from Friend's University. Kay married Larry Tweet in 1962. Together, they spent their lives in ministry, pastoring for nearly fifty years at Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Park City, KS. Kay was a well-loved substitute teacher in the Wichita Public Schools. Over the years, Kay was enthusiastically involved in Girl Scouts, Aglow International, Wichita Substitute Teachers Association, and many other clubs and groups. She loved playing piano at Sunflower Gardens and was known for many years as Valley Center's Kindergarten Apron Lady. Kay loved her family and friends, and her red accordion. She now resides in Heaven--she's the one with the long braid and tambourine. Her greatest source of pride was her growing 'tribe' of 65, including, with spouses, her 6 children, 37 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Sudy Holzrichter, and her son, Thadd Tweet.
In addition to her husband, Kay is also survived by five children, Beth (Bobby) Massey of Valley Center, KS, Nathan (Kelli) Tweet of Savannah, GA, Sarah (Tony) Snavely of Wichita, KS, Ruth Wittum of Owosso, MI, Seth (Olivia) Tweet of Wichita, KS, daughter-in-law, Sharon Tweet of Liberty, MO, and her sisters, Lana McLain and Betsy Muzzy.
In the spirit of her Girl Scout nickname, 'Little Turtle,' Kay amassed an impressive collection of turtles and spent her last days gifting them to beloved family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held at 10am, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Hope Church, 2000 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the loving memory of Kay to Women's Aglow International. Please indicate your gift as a Memorial and mail your check to: Aglow International Commemorative Gifts, PO Box 1749, Edmonds, WA 98020-1749
