Kathy R. Hackney, born in Euguene, Oregon, Monday, September 24, 1951 passed peacefully at her home Valley Center, Kansas, Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Kathy was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, proud great grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. She spent her life putting others before herself, always offering kindness, compassion, and an open heart to everyone she met. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She worked for many years at KU Med Center in Wichita, Kansas, where she was known for her strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to helping others. Her career was more than just a job ~ it was an extension of her caring nature.
Kathy is survived by and was the proud mother of Crystal (Eric) Roach of Valley Center and Chantel (Jeff) LeMaster of Wichita. She was a deeply devoted grandmother to Raegen Boeken, Rylee Boeken, and Risa Boeken, and her heart overflowed with love for her great grandson, Rhyker Milby. Her family meant the world to her, and she never missed a chance to celebrate their accomplishments or support them in every way she could.
She is also survived by her brother Ken (Lorraine) Aukschun, sister Kelli (Bryan) Gomer, and brother Karl Aukschun, as well as her brother-in-law and dear friend Gene Hackney, and dear lifelong friend Jackie Lewis. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her beloved spouses, Mike Rogers and Leslie Hackney; her parents, Lee and Joyce Aukschun; and her grandson, Dylan Boeken.
Kathy's legacy is one of love, strength, and selflessness. She touched countless lives and will be remembered always for her generous heart and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Kathy on Saturday, September 6th at 11:00 a.m. at 125 N 1st, Suites 2-3, Colwich, KS 67030.
